同社は三菱UFJ銀行となった旧行が傘下に置いていた調査・コンサルティング会社が統合されて生まれた会社だが、その中心的存在が三和総合研究所であり、現在の理事長である中谷巌理事長は2000年に三和総合研究所の理事長に就任してから現在まで理事長を続けている。
また、代表取締役以下役員は三菱UFJ銀行の出身者が占めるが、なかでも旧三和銀行の出身者が多い。2006年に発足してから現在に至るまで歴代の社長はすべて三和銀行出身者となっている。

2011年に本社をオランダヒルズに移転している。
